Welcome, Hannah!

Meet Hannah! Hannah, or Ms. Brunink, will be joining our teaching team in the fall. She has been teaching for nine years in both Washington and Nevada.

Tell us about yourself!
I love hiking and spending time in nature. I have two cats named Eleanor and Cleo. I absolutely LOVE all things science.

What made you want to work for Shelton School District?
I student taught in this area back in the day and love the Shelton community. I am currently living and teaching in Las Vegas, but am excited to move back to Washington to be near my family. When I decided to move back closer to home, Shelton was the first school district I applied to!

What do you look forward to the most about working here?
I look forward to meeting my new students and colleagues and building relationships in the Shelton community. I love teaching and cannot wait to share my passion with a new school!

What do you love about teaching?
I love seeing the growth in my students every year, both academically and socially. My greatest joy is seeing a student's pride and confidence grow as they experience success with things they previously found difficult.

What is one way you hope to inspire, challenge, and/or empower students?
I hope to empower students by engaging them in a variety of critical thinking tasks, and by helping them learn to take charge of their own learning through goal-setting and self-reflection. And I hope to inspire my students to find joy in their learning by fostering a classroom community where students feel valued, cared for, and where they feel safe to take risks and try new things.
