Y-Academy coming to Shelton!
Posted on 11/16/2020
The need in the community for childcare, particularly for first-responders and emergency personnel, has never been so important. And so, the South Sound YMCA is preparing to launch all-day, school-age childcare in Shelton. In addition to providing support with distance learning offered by our local school districts, we also support social/emotional learning with games, arts and crafts, and STEM activities.
Please know that the health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our highest priority. To ensure the safety and wellness of our students and staff we are implementing social distancing, extra sanitation procedures, and reduced capacity and group sizes, as recommended by our local, state, and federal government agencies.
Our goal is to make high-quality childcare accessible to anyone. All of our school-based locations are state-licensed and are proud to accept DCYF Working Connections subsidies. Don’t know if you qualify for state subsidy? If you qualify for free/reduced lunch at school, there's a good chance you'll be approved for subsidy and can attend for as little as $15/month. Through June 2021, family co-pays are capped at $115/month/family. Give us a call to learn more about the process.
To learn more or to sign-up, please visit www.southsoundymca.org/y-care. Please register on our waitlist if interested. Once we receive enough registrations, we will begin offering care. Please also feel free to reach out to the YMCA child care office at childcare@ssymca.net or calling 360-918-0400 for any questions.
