Family Update & Updated FAQShelton School District Families,

Thank you for letting us continue to serve your students as we meet their educational goals. We are committed to providing in-person services as students, families, and our staff let us know that students are thriving in being together each and every day. The best way to sustain in-person services is to follow the health and safety guidelines provided by the Washington State Department of Health. We are working together to cut the transmission of COVID to keep classrooms open.

On August 18th, 2021, Governor Inslee issued a mandate that employees in K-12 public education needed to be fully vaccinated by October 18th, 2021. We are happy to share that 91% of our employees are currently vaccinated. While the vast majority of our employees are vaccinated, and this rate is high when looking at public agencies, some employees did not meet the requirement.

Working together with staff, we were able to make a few changes to further support in-person services. As promised last week, schools have reached out to affected students and families with any updates to their in-person learning plans. Changes may include some teachers and students being reassigned to a different classroom. These changes will help keep students learning with their peers and friends as well as minimize the disruption to the daily operation of the school. If you have not heard from your school, it very likely means there aren’t changes made that affected your student(s). If you are unsure, please contact your school.

We recognize that there are many questions about the vaccine mandate and how it is affecting our district. Please visit the FAQ webpage where we are working to provide you with answers and clarity.

The pandemic continues to offer unforeseen challenges, but by working together, we can address these challenges while providing the best services for our students. We appreciate you trusting us with your students and your patience while we pivot again.
