Shelton's 19-20 Construction Updates

19-20 Construction Updates

July 2020

Construction of the bond projects is moving right along! We are very excited to see the progress and the outcomes after many days of planning and hard work.

At Package D-2, the Mini Dome Building Addition and Renovation, rough framing is wrapped up with only a few roof framing items remaining. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, insulation, and drywall are occurring in the old part of the building and in the addition. The installation of the roofing underlayment is starting at the new addition as well.

Over at the pool, the concrete cure is nearly complete. The pool tile is wrapping up now and plastering of the pool is scheduled to start soon.

At Package D-3, the Football & Track project, the contractor continues working on the infiltration collector and slot drain. They are beginning work on communication installs and the demolition of the old stadium lights system and electrical network. Soon, the light poles that do not have inhabited nests will come down.

At Package E, the Bordeaux gymnasium, everything is looking beautiful and is nearly complete only needing a few final touches. If you nearby, make sure to do a drive-by to see the outside of the gym!

May 2020

Although schools are currently closed, we are very grateful that construction continues.

The Bordeaux Elementary gymnasium addition is moving along nicely as contractors work on completing the siding and final pieces to the roofing. On the inside, walls are being painted and fire sprinklers, doors, casework, and floors are being installed. The finishing touches will include paving around the exterior and landscaping. The contractors are scheduled to complete the addition mid-June, and the gym will be ready for use when students return to class in the fall.

At Shelton High School, the baseball & fastpitch fields are complete and looking beautiful with upgraded AstroTurf! The MiniDome is undergoing demolition of interior spaces and exterior walls to modernize the weight training facility and wrestling room while adding and modernizing the locker rooms. The swimming pool is also amid a face-lift as it is deepened, the plaster is refinished, and a new pool deck is installed. Although it seems like a lot, these projects are on a schedule to be completed and ready for use by the start of school in the fall.

Next up is the football field and track. Both the football field and track & field stations will have all new top quality AstroTurf installed, new field lighting will be installed, and the track will be upgraded to a competition-grade track, as well as other competition upgrades. This project is scheduled for completion in time for the first home football game of the season this fall.

April 2020

Although schools are closed, our crews have been working hard while practicing social distancing to make sure the bond construction projects are moving along and will be completed on time.

Package D: Fastpitch/Baseball Fields

The fastpitch field is complete and looking beautiful! The baseball field is near completion, only a few minor items remain before the site is cleaned up.

Package D: Mini Dome Building Addition and Renovation

The Minidome is looking a lot different these days. Contractors have torn down the old weight room, and demolition continues which will be followed by the excavation for the new building addition footings in the days to come. The pool will also be drained in the coming days in preparation for demolition.

Package E: Bordeaux Gym

The gym is looking fantastic as interior finishes are starting to take place, including drywall.

March 2020

February 2020

You might notice that Bordeaux Elementary and Shelton High School's campuses are looking a little different!

Package E - Bordeaux's gym is moving right along and is looking great. Walls are up and the roof will be completely installed shortly.

BDX Gym progress

Over at Shelton High School (or Package D - Athletics/Fastpitch/Baseball Field) work continues in the wet weather and ground conditions. Turf is going down on the Fastpitch field and looks beautiful! Due to unforeseen soil and drainage issues, geo-techs have come up with a solution to add additional drainage which includes trenches around the baseball field. This extra work will ensure that our new fields will not have water or puddling issues in the future.

We are proud to say that all state-match-funded projects are progressing nicely and staying within budget!
