Dare To Dream
(Date Posted 10/5/2018)
On Saturday, September 22 the Shelton School District was honored by being invited to the “Dare To Dream” fundraiser at Safeco Field to help raise money to support the Junior Achievement of Washington programs here in the state. Brian Wirzbicki, the school counselor from Bordeaux Elementary and Lilah Wentworth, a sixth grader from OMS (and a former Bordeaux Elementary student) were asked to speak at the fundraising event.
Mr. Wirzbicki has been teaching Jr. Achievement programs at Bordeaux Elementary for over ten years focusing on entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy skills. He has taught over 5,000 students since that time. Lilah, as a former 5th grade student at Bordeaux Elementary was voted in as Mayor of JA BizTown last year. JA BizTown is one of the many Jr. Achievement programs being supported through this fundraising event. This year’s event raised over $569, 215!
The money raised will support over 75,000 students in the state of Washington and Northern Idaho with opportunities to participate in the Jr. Achievement programs. We are honored that Brian and Lilah represented their schools and our district at this wonderful event.
