Technology Department Reconfiguration

By:  Glenn Shorten

Instructional Technology Coordinator

I have had many positions in the past 33 years working for the Shelton School District.  I have served in the following and a few other positions: Computer Science & Math Teacher at SHS, Computer Consultant (Building Support Coordinator), Instructional Technology Coordinator, Assistant Director of Technology, and Director of Technology.  The Technology Department is in the process of reorganizing in order to provide a focus on the instructional technology side of the district.  Effective immediately I am returning to my previous role of Instructional Technology Coordinator. Chad Trogstad has been appointed the Interim Director of Technology. We will be posting the position of Director of Technology to start with the 2018-19 school year.

I take great pride in the work that has been done in the technology department while serving as the Director of Technology the past 6 years starting with a new WiFi system, increased internet bandwidth, the introduction of Chromebooks, interactive projectors, a unified classroom notification system, and classroom audio systems. All this, while improving customer service.  It is time to focus on the instructional side and what to do with our new technology tools.

Great progress has been made in the installation of bond-related technology projects.  Due to the efforts of Chad Trogstad and our tech staff we are currently one month ahead of schedule! Many additional installations will occur during the summer that directly impacts instruction and this is where my focus will be.
