Building Naming Survey Available

(Date Posted 6/1/2018)

With the reconfiguration of our schools coming in the Fall of 2019 we will not only open two new buildings, we will also open two virtually new schools.  Olympic Middle School and Oakland Bay Jr. High will each see a 100% new student population at the beginning of the 2019 school year, and potentially 50% new staff.

These changes will bring new focus and opportunity to each building.  We, as a community, are now being given a chance to examine the building grade band designations.   After many internal discussions with school and district staff, the district would like to you to share your thoughts about the possible naming changes for these schools.  We want the names of our schools to be recognizable, enduring, and reflective of the age of the students served.

We are presenting four options for you to consider. Please select the option that you believe would best represent our Grades 5 to 8 schools.   Per district facility naming policy, recommendations will be presented to the School Board, by the end of June for a final decision.

Thank you for helping us as we consider the possibilities.  You will find a link to the naming survey below.

Mid-Grade Naming Survey
