Additional School Resource Officers Approved For The Remainder Of The 2017-18 School Year

During the regularly scheduled school board meeting, March 27, 2018, the Shelton School District Board of Directors approved the addition of two School Resource Officers for the remainder of the current school year.  The officers will work on a voluntary overtime basis through the Shelton Police Department.  The School District would be responsible for the officers' overtime expenses in the amount of $35,952.  

The School Resource Officers would join Officer Paul Campbell in creating a law enforcement presence on the school campuses.  The officers would divide the campuses into zones with Shelton High School and Oakland Bay Jr High being covered with one officer; Mt View and Olympic Middle School being Zone 2 and covered by a second officer; the third zone would include CHOICE High School, Evergreen, and Bordeaux elementaries.

In addition, the school district is working with law enforcement to look for grants and we will work to refine the 2018-19 budget to support the possibility of adding two officers in the Fall of 2018.
