Driver Responsibilities

  • As per a new state law, drivers must do a review of evacuation procedures prior to each trip.
  • Assure all state regulations are met while transporting students.
  • Drive in a safe and prudent manner.
  • Stay with the bus or the group, unless permission is given by the teacher/ coach.
  • If given permission, drivers are only allowed to leave if they give the person in charge of the group the cell phone number. Then, only for the purpose of meals, unless otherwise approved ahead of time between the Transportation Director and School Official.
  • Overnight trips may be different if the driver is relieved from duty and lodging is provided. In that instance, the teacher/coach will communicate schedules with the driver.
  • Drivers are not allowed to bring their own children or family members on the bus.
